It was very exciting to host the 'Create a Bonsai' Experience at Chessington Garden Centre.
Create a Bonsai on the road
Although daunting working in new surroundings, I had everything on hand at the events room at Chessington Garden Centre. The staff couldn't have been more helpful as well.
My guests, as always were simply keen to try something new and managed to create some fantastic bonsai from a choice of starter trees of conifers and junipers.
I was able to take along some of my bonsai trees in progress for a display which attracted some attention from passers by as well as giving styling inspiration and examples for my guests.
After a brief chat about the history of bonsai, I demonstrated working on a tree from scratch, including the shaping with wire, pruning and potting into a bonsai pot.
My guests spent some time choosing their tree and then quickly got to work. They were amazed by their success and proudly took home their trees to nurture.
