'Bring Your Bonsai' workshop success

My first 'Bring Your Bonsai' workshop could not have gone better! This delightful pair brought along a spectacular Scots Pine they had owned for over 20 years. In that time it had put on some healthy growth which had never been pruned, but luckily kept it's very good informal upright structure with a lovely bendy shape in the trunk.

A lot of people ask me for help on caring for their trees - but this tree was clearly healthy and didn't need my help! The owners had done the right thing by keeping it outside all year round - primarily watered by rain and kept out of severe hot sun.

In all bonsai, the main focus is the trunk and structure, so we set about exposing the best features of the tree by working upwards and taking out some pretty significant branches - which took a lot of courage!

They now feel that they have more confidence to continue this process as well as wiring some of the branches to bring in some movement and character.

I was especially pleased with this great feedback:

"Thank you Julia, it was a pleasure to meet you and spend really valuable time together - and I bet your lovely garden looks amazing in the Summer!

Our session was perfect as my/our first time with anybody who could speak kindly and knowledgeably about my tree. Your guidance was invaluable"

Do you need some help with your bonsai?

Bring it along to the next 'Bring Your Bonsai' group workshop or ask for a 1:1.
